LADY VICTORIA NEEDS YOUR VOTE!!!

The Lady Victoria Colliery has been selected as one of Scotland’s Top 100 Treasured Places in a project which aims to raise awareness of the man-made environment that is on our doorstep and to help people recognise the value of their own local heritage.

The project, funded by the Heritage Lottery and developed by The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) to celebrate its centenary year in 2008,  will launch on 19th September 2007 with an on-line public vote to find the nation’s favourite archive image of a treasured place from 100 specially selected from the RCAHMS collections.

The Top 10 images will be announced at the end of October and will then feature in the RCAHMS centerary exhibition to be held in the City Art Centre, Edinburgh.  The shortlisted 10 will then compete for votes throughout November, with the nation’s favourite image of a Treasured Place being announced in early December.

If you would like to help the Lady Victoria Colliery reach the Top 10 and be voted the nation’s favourite, please visit www.treasuredplaces.org.uk, vote for us and add your reason why!
