SCOTTISH MINING MUSEUM APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR
16/06/2010The Scottish Mining Museum’s newly-appointed Director, Rowan Brown, formally picked up the reins this week as she began her new role and set out her agenda for one of Scotland’s top historical and tourist attractions.

Rowan said: “I am very much looking forward to taking up my new post at the Scottish Mining Museum. I have long been a passionate enthusiast of Scotland’s industrial heritage and have worked closely with the staff and collections over the last four years in my capacity as Collections Trustee. I’m extremely keen to ensure that the internationally important site is better known across the globe and to encourage a broader and more diverse range of visitors. ”
Rowan brings with her a wealth of sector knowledge, obtained through her studies at the University of St Andrews and Leicester University, and through her employment with NMS, Glasgow City Council, and various other associated organisations. The Rt Hon Henry McLeish, Chair of the Scottish Mining Museum Trust, added: “I, along with my fellow trustees, am delighted at the appointment of Rowan Brown as Director of the Scottish Mining Museum.
