The Scottish Mining Museum regularly hold special events in many of our onsite locations. Below are a list of forthcoming events in our calendar, make sure they are in yours.

MARY KINGS GHOSTFEST - SCIENCE V SUPERNATURAL

The Scottish Mining Museum joins Mary King's Ghost Fest for 2008!  Join us for an overnight investigation at the Lady Victoria Colliery in Newtongrange.  The evening will kick off at 11pm with a history tour of the museum, followed by Supernatural and Scientific investigations throughout the night.  (Finish time is approximately 5am, depending on the findings!)

MIDLOTHIAN HISTORY FAIR

Whether you're interested in the history of the town in which you live or want to delve into your family's past, the Scottish Mining Museum's Midlothian History Fair is the place to visit. Exhibitor from local history socieites, heritage societies, genealogy companies, Midlothian Local Studies, and many more will be there with a wealth of knowledge on Midlothian. Official opening by Provost Adam Montgomery at 10am.

Ghost Tour of the Lady Vic!

Ghost Tour of the Lady Vic!

Our ever popular ghost tour returns!  Take an evening tour of the Lady Vic with Aggie McGhee and Mungo Mackay.  Find out about the spectres and shadows that haunt the mine - the stories of the spirits that refuse to move on into the afterlife.  Hear the chilling tale of the headless miner, Joke Kane and listen out for Dode Donnelly's squeals of terror coming from the deepest shaft to be sunk in Scotland!

A fantastic evening of chills and thrills, not to be missed! Tickets are limited so call now of 0131 663 7519 or purchase direct from the museum reception.  Tours last approx 1hour and 15 minutes and are followed by wine, nibbles and ghost stories in the Old Power House, all included in the ticket price of £13 per head.
